Introducing The Next Chapter Remix
a game about inventing what comes next 🧩
For many people, retirement has traditionally been framed as an ending. But for a growing number of professionals, it’s really a transition and a chance to re-imagine how their skills, interests, and experience could evolve into something new.
Let’s rethink that together. Instead of treating retirement as an ending, let’s focus on active, creative next chapters where people’s interests, strengths, and experience can continue to make an impact. When one career chapter winds down, it is not always easy to find the next career, hobby, venture, volunteer opportunity, full or part-time path that brings meaning, purpose, and connection. By collaborating on this challenge, we may spark ideas for ourselves and for others navigating this crossroads.
This Monday, June 8, 2026, I’m launching an interactive game called The Next Chapter Remix.
What is The Next Chapter Remix?
I’ll share three raw ingredients that describe a fictional professional figuring out what comes next:
💼 A past career
🛑 A problem they are excellent at solving
⚡ A mix of skills, superpowers, and hobbies they enjoy
Your challenge: Create a compelling new role, venture, or passion project from those ingredients. It could be a consulting business, a local nonprofit, a passion project or hobby, or a volunteer venture. The format is flexible. You decide. The idea simply needs to be imaginative and viable.
Then head over to LinkedIn and share your new “next chapter” role that remixes those elements.
Who is this for?
This is for anyone interested in reinvention, career design, creativity, or building what comes next. You do not need to be retired to participate. Fresh perspectives are part of what will make the game interesting.
How the game works:
• The Drop (Monday): I publish the three ingredients here with the link to share your idea.
• The Collaboration (Monday to Thursday): You share your invented role in the LinkedIn comments. Then read other entries, like your favorites, and reply to peers with a “Yes, and…” to build on top ideas.
• The Vote (Friday): I shortlist the top ideas from the comments and community likes and put them into a LinkedIn poll for the community to vote on.
• The Top Idea (Monday): The winning idea and creator is announced.
The first challenge drops Monday morning, and I’d love for you to play.
Best,
Carol Bergeron
